How many porta potties does a quinceañera need?
A backyard quinceañera with 200 guests, a bar and a 6-hour reception needs about 7 or 8 standard porta potties, or 1 two-stall restroom trailer plus 5 standard units. The count comes from 1 unit per 50 guests for 4 hours, plus 1 unit for the extra hours and more for alcohol.
Worked example: 200 ÷ 50 = 4 units. Six hours instead of four: +1 = 5. A bar: +20% of 5, rounded up = +1, then round up once more for a dance-floor crowd = 7. Check your own numbers with the porta potty calculator.
Where should the units go in a backyard?
Put the units on the side of the yard farthest from the food, on level ground, with the doors facing away from the tables. The truck must park within about 15 feet, so a driveway edge or side yard usually works best. Keep a lit path from the dance floor.
- Run string lights or solar stakes along the path — parties end after dark.
- Label one unit for ladies if you have two or more.
- Keep units off sprinkler heads and away from septic lids.
When is a restroom trailer worth it?
A restroom trailer is worth it when most guests are in formal clothes, the party runs past 10 p.m., or it is a hot month. The trailer has lights, mirrors, sinks and air conditioning. The trailer needs a level spot about 10 by 25 feet and a 110-volt outlet.
See restroom trailer rental for site needs.
What should I book, and when?
Book quinceañera restrooms 3 weeks ahead for spring and fall Saturdays, and 6 weeks ahead if you want a trailer. Units are dropped on Friday and picked up Monday at the one-event price. Add 1 hand wash station for every 3 or 4 units when food is served.
